The Caledonian Channel, the magic of the Scottish Highlands.
The navigation runs from Inverness in the northeast to Fort William in the southwest. The 60-mile long channel links Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy. On these large lakes you are never far away from sheltered moorings. The more narrow parts offer an abundant nature closeby.
Loch Oich is the smallest of the three lakes with her length of 4 mile. She and her sisters are part of the Great Glen, the natural geological scare of Scotland.
Loch Lochy is the most southern of the three lakes. It is around 10 mile long and about 1 mile wide. Ashore steep wooded hills invite for rough walks.
Fishing, birdwatching, walking, climbing, horse riding, and sightseeing can be combined around Loch Ness, the largest lake in the United Kingdom. However be carefull, because it is not allowed to feed the monster.
You do not need a license in this area. Beginners are welcome.
